Here is a synopsis of what we think needs to be done. We will set effective
board policies to make sure we address these issues for the benefit of the residents of Holiday Valley.
We have many
serious issues facing our community. How are we going to resolve the tank issue? Is it feasible we could sell it and try to
recoup some of our losses? We can always apply for grant money and do another one, the right way the next time! Where is our
emergency plan in the event of a disaster? How do we get water here if the tanks collapse? Should we retro fit one to current
standards? WE NEED GRANT MONEY! How do we pump water without electricity? Many residents have large animals, how much water
will we need? What do we do with the lake and clubhouse? How can they be put to our best use in an emergency? We should form
committees, one board member and several residents to investigate and make recommendations to the board. Some issues should
be sent to the vote (referendum) of the people who pay for it, too!
We need a long term 10 year 'strategic plan' for the district,
the infrastructure is aging. We need a bylaws project committee, a road signs project committee, plans to get every road graded
in H/V at least 2 to 3 times a year, and maybe tables or benches around the lake (and more clean up too.) It wouldn't hurt
to paint a few things around here either!
Let's have spaghetti dinners down at the clubhouse and
choose collectively what our road signs should look like. In ancient times the Greeks used the most direct form of democracy...they
simply put a rock in a pot for their vote. Let the committee come up with some design ideas for road signs and let the people
put their rock in a pot for the one they want to choose...majority rules! Let's stop the yadda-yadda and get things done and
let's have fun along the way! Why not choose which streets get done in a fun same way?
